L-lysine treatment attenuates L-arginine-induced pancreatic tissue damage by inhibiting the release of inflammatory cytokine IL-6 and enhancing antioxidant activity. Pretreatment with L-lysine led to significant reductions in malondialdehyde and nitric oxide levels, while significant enhancement was observed in the activity of antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase) and glutathione [1]. Supplementation with L-lysine almost completely improves vascular calcification. Dietary L-lysine strongly inhibits plasma intact parathyroid hormone in adenine rats and supports appropriate bone vascular axes. The conserved orientation of the femoral apatite in the Lys group also demonstrated the bone protective effect of L-lysine. Dietary L-lysine increases plasma alanine, proline, arginine and hyperarginine but does not increase lysine [2]. A dose-dependent delay in gastric emptying observed in rats was observed in humans, with an increased half-life of gastric emptying of 4 minutes/g L-lysine. In addition, a dose-dependent increase in intestinal fluid accumulation (0.4mL/min/g L-lysine) was observed [3].
