Sorbic acid E200
Sorbic acid, or 2,4-hexadienoic acid, is a natural organic compound used as a food preservative. Sorbic acid has the chemical formula C6H8O2. Sorbic acid is a colourless solid that is slightly soluble in water and sublimes readily. Sorbic acid was first isolated from the unripe berries of the rowan tree (Sorbus aucuparia), hence its name.
Potassium Sorbate E202
Potassium Sorbate can inhibit the activity of fungus, yeast and aerobic bacterium, and prevent the growth and reproduction of botulinu m, staphylococcus, salmonella and other harmful microorganisms. Moreover,Potassium Sorbatev has no effect to beneficial microorganisms, such as anaerobic bacillus and acidophilus lactobacillus.
